One bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a claw foot tub. As intoxicating as we may find the interiors, the grounds of the estate have their own allure. To the south of the house there is the fenced in 'backyard' which includes a dining table and chairs under a shade canopy of mature walnut trees. On the north side there is addition picnic table seating and a six burner grill. The north patio is covered in a ceiling of garden lights that provide the perfect glow for late evenings spent dining al fresco. We love having land! However, we are unable to convey with any amount of specificity the vast number of the native plants and rolling areas that guests are welcome to explore. However, we would advise our guests to grab a pair of scissors from the kitchen before heading out so they can collect a fresh cut bouquet of flora for their companions to enjoy. Depending of the time of year in which you plan on visiting you may find blackberries or raspberries around the property. Throw them in some pancakes or muddle them into a cocktail, I'm sure you can figure something out! Farrand Hall also has a 20 foot pontoon that is docked on Palmer Lake. The pontoon is available for 1 day with your booking during boating season. Additional days are available for $200 a day. Ask for availability when booking. Home includes 3 televisions with cable, phone and internet; washer and dryer (both brand new). We recently added a water softener (to get rid of the well water smell) & brand new on-demand water heater. Perfect for 8 to 10 guests. It is important to note that while the house could sleep 13, parties larger than 10 may feel crowded, and will be sharing sleeping quarters, so please keep this in mind when making your final booking decision. There are 4 sleeping rooms so multiple families could each have their own room if desired. The lakefront is directly below the house! It includes a lounge area and long dock, excellent for swimming, fishing and docking a boat. Little ones will enjoy catching minnows with their nets in the shallow water! The lake side storage shed is filled with water toys, and has a refrigerator and electricity. Two adult kayaks and two youth kayaks are available upon request for no additional fee. In the unlikely event you want to leave the cottage, nearby amenities include: Corey Lake Farms (Farmer's Market and U-pick seasonal produce), restaurants, horseback riding at Camp Eberhart, Swiss Valley Ski Resort and the charming downtown area of Three Rivers. Anglers can expect to catch sweet tasting Blue Gill, Black Crappie, Largemouth Bass or Northern Pike. If fishing is not your thing, you can lounge on the pier or swim in the lake with a variety of toys. There’s even a hammock for those who get there first. For the more active vacationer the lawn is large enough for badminton, bags, or bocce ball. For winter sportsmen, Swiss Valley Ski and Snowboard Area is only a 24-minute drive. Fall and winter 3-day weekends are available. Major grocery stores are within 15 minutes and a small local mart is about 3 miles away which has a good deli and meat market.
